Solemn/Sung Morning Prayer for The Second Sunday After Easter (Easter 2) and the Seventh Sunday in COVIDtide

Morning Prayer for Easter 2 and COVIDtide 7

Thanks to the Choirs of the Cathedrals of Guildford, Lincoln and Rochester for their music today. ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ›. The Lord is risen indeed. Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Almighty God, we thank you for this day and our continuing celebration of Easter. We continue to pray today for all those who have been affected by the COVID-19, especially for the sick (including our friend Tim), the vulnerable, the fearful, all healthcare workers, essential workers, the unemployed, and all others who are affected by this plague.
We pray for the victims of the mass shooting in Nova Scotia last Sunday and for all those grieving their loss: families, friends, and all Nova Scotia; that you may give them comfort during these most difficult times; help them bear their pain and sorrow. We pray that Nova Scotia may grow stronger, united as one community to serve and help each other in love and peace, not letting the hate filled actions of one man define us.
We continue to pray for our Sovereign Lady, Elizabeth, all her Governments, and her armed forces and law enforcement officers, that they be granted the necessary wisdom, resources, and power to overcome this challenging times and maintain peace and order throughout her dominions; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who hast given thine only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the victims of todayโ€™s mass shooting and for Nova Scotia

Almighty God, comforter of all peoples, we pray tonight in humble sorrow for the tragic events of senseless violence and hatred in Nova Scotia today.

We pray for the departed, taken from this world prematurely, for Constable Heidi Stevenson and for the other victims; rest eternal grant unto them and may light perpetual shine upon them. We also pray for their families, friends, and their communities, that you may give them comfort during these most difficult times of unnecessary loss; help them through the grief, bear their pain and sorrow. Give them the strength to overcome these most difficult times. Lord, hear the prayers of all those who pray tonight for them, we may not know these people, but we share their grief and wish they didnโ€™t have to suffer through it.

We pray for Nova Scotia, that we may all overcome these difficult times, made worse by todayโ€™s tragedy, and that we may grow stronger, united as one community to serve and help each other in love. We also pray that such acts of unbridled horror and violence will never happen again; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Easter Sunday Morning Prayer

I may have (probably did) overdid the incense. My condo is very very smokey right now. Thanks to the Choirs of Westminster Abbey, Kingโ€™s College (Cambridge), Gloucester Cathedral, and Guildford Cathedral for making todayโ€™s Easter service special, I could have been in an English cathedral and not known the difference. ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ›.

Amen.

Solemn Easter Vigil Evening Prayer 2020

Solemn Easter Vigil Evening Prayer with Frankincense

As I could not be at church to celebrate the Easter Vigil this year, I modified the order of Evening Prayer to include a renewal of baptismal vows and the Litany.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him; and he shall give thee thy heartโ€™s desire.

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.

Collect for Easter Even: Grant, O Lord, that as we are baptized into the death of thy blessed Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, so by continual mortifying our corrupt affections we may be buried with him; and that, through the grave, and gate of death, we may pass to our joyful resurrection; for his merits, who died, and was buried, and rose again for us, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world; Have mercy upon us.
O Lamb of God, that takest away the sin of the world; Grant us thy peace.

O Christ, hear us.
O Christ, hear us.

Almighty God, maker of heaven and earth, we beseech you to hear our prayers tonight as though we cannot gather physically to worship, we are assembled together in spirit on this Easter Even.
We pray for all peoples of this earth tonight, especially the sick (including thy servant Tim), all those in hazard and risk from the coronavirus, all healthcare workers, all cleaning staff, the Queenโ€™s armed force, all essential workers, the unemployed, the vulnerable, and all those who need prayer at this time.
We also pray for all those who have died because of the coronavirus, may they rest peacefully and join you in the kingdom of heaven; and we also pray for those that are grieving for the dead, wipe away their tears and take away their pain.
Christ, receive our prayers, deliver us from this plague, and grant us peace, love, and faithfulness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who died, was buried, rose again for us, and takest away our sins. Amen.

Evening Prayer, Good Friday 2020

Evening Prayer before a stripped altar

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Almighty Father who of thy great love to men didst give thy dearly beloved Son to die for us: Grant that through his Cross our sins may be put away, and remembered no more against us, and that, cleansed by his Blood, and mindful of his sufferings, we may take up our cross daily, and follow him in newness of life, until we come to his everlasting kingdom; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, as night falls upon us, protect us from the darkness of fear and death. We continue to pray for mercy upon us during this plague, for all the sick, especially our dear friend Tim, all those exposed to the dangers of this coronavirus, all those working to protect others at this time, and for all peoples of this Earth. May all of us be united in prayer, especially on this day, as we remember the death of Jesus Christ upon the cross, that by His death, He redeemed all us sinners in this world, and by our faith in Him, God will wipe away all tears from our eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.

Prayer for Thursday in Holy Week, Commonly Called Maundy Thursday, 2020

Tonight on Maundy Thursday we remember the washing of the disciples feet by Jesus, the Passover meal that would be his Last Supper, and his betrayal.

In the same night that He was betrayed, took Bread; and, when He had given thanks, He brake it; and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise after supper He took the Cup; and, when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all, of this; for this is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins: Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me.

Tonight we continue to pray for all those in hazardous occupations, all healthcare workers, all cleaning staff, the Queenโ€™s armed forces, the unemployed, the fearful, and especially the sick including our dear friend Tim. May the Lord have mercy upon all of us and protect us in our time of need, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Holy Wednesday 2020

As we pray tonight on Holy Wednesday, we pray for the sick, especially Tim, may they recover speedily; we pray for all our healthcare and essential workers, may they be kept safe from the dangers of the coronavirus and continue their critical work; all those who have lost their job, having financial difficulties, and those who live in uncertainty at this time, may God guide your path in finding a solution and bring peace to your anxiety and worry.

We also pray for all Jewish people in the world, may they have a Happy Passover, chag Pesach kasher vesameโ€™ach.

We pray for all peoples of this world tonight that this health crisis end as soon as possible and we can freely roam the outdoors and be with our friends, family, and community; through Jesus Christ, our light in the darkness and saviour. Amen.

Solemn Morning Prayer for the Sunday Next before Easter commonly called Palm Sunday. ๐ŸŒฟ

Palm Sunday Morning Prayer

My little palm tree ๐ŸŒด isnโ€™t strong enough to have leaves removed from it yet, so I brought the entire tree in with me for morning prayer ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ›. In my hermetic social distancing life, I also wrote a plainchant for the Kyrie ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽถ.

We continue to pray today for all those who have been affected by the COVID-19, especially for the sick, the vulnerable, the fearful, all healthcare workers, essential workers, the unemployed, and all others who are affected by this plague. Today we continue to pray for my friend Tim, who remains hospitalized from this disease; and for his family and friends that are praying for him. May Tim and all those hospitalized for this plague be restored, according to thy gracious will, to health of body and mind, and give thanks to thee in thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty and everlasting God, who, of thy tender love towards mankind, hast sent thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant, that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Appointed Psalm for Palm Sunday (Psalm 23 & 24 (only Psalm 23 reproduced here)):

The Lord is my shepherd; / therefore can I lack nothing.

He shall feed me in a green pasture, / and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.

He shall restore my soul, / and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his Nameโ€™s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; / for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.

Thou shalt prepare a table before me in the presence of them that trouble me; / thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full.

Surely thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; / and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Prayer in the time of any common Plague of Sickness: O Almighty God, who in thy wrath didst send a plague upon thine own people in the wilderness, for their obstinate rebellion against Moses and Aaron; and also, in the time of king David, didst slay with the plague of pestilence threescore and ten thousand, and yet remembering thy mercy didst save the rest: Have pity upon us miserable sinners, who now are visited with great sickness and mortality; that like as thou didst then accept of an atonement, and didst command the destroying Angel to cease from punishing, so it may now please thee to withdraw from us this plague and grievous sickness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Morning Prayer for the Fifth Sunday in Lent commonly called Passion Sunday

We pray today for all those who have been affected by the COVID-19, especially for the sick, the fearful, healthcare workers, essential workers, the unemployed, and all those affected by this dastardly disease. Today we especially pray for my friend Tim, who has been infected by this horrible sickness and hospitalized. May he and all those who are hospitalized for this plague be restored, according to thy gracious will, to health of body and mind, and give thanks to thee in thy holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Collect of the Day: We beseech thee, Almighty God, mercifully to look upon thy people; that by thy great goodness they may be governed and preserved evermore, both in body and soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
