Evening Prayer, Good Friday 2020

Evening Prayer before a stripped altar

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Almighty Father who of thy great love to men didst give thy dearly beloved Son to die for us: Grant that through his Cross our sins may be put away, and remembered no more against us, and that, cleansed by his Blood, and mindful of his sufferings, we may take up our cross daily, and follow him in newness of life, until we come to his everlasting kingdom; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, as night falls upon us, protect us from the darkness of fear and death. We continue to pray for mercy upon us during this plague, for all the sick, especially our dear friend Tim, all those exposed to the dangers of this coronavirus, all those working to protect others at this time, and for all peoples of this Earth. May all of us be united in prayer, especially on this day, as we remember the death of Jesus Christ upon the cross, that by His death, He redeemed all us sinners in this world, and by our faith in Him, God will wipe away all tears from our eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.
