Almighty God, comforter of all peoples, we pray tonight in humble sorrow for the tragic events of senseless violence and hatred in Nova Scotia today.
We pray for the departed, taken from this world prematurely, for Constable Heidi Stevenson and for the other victims; rest eternal grant unto them and may light perpetual shine upon them. We also pray for their families, friends, and their communities, that you may give them comfort during these most difficult times of unnecessary loss; help them through the grief, bear their pain and sorrow. Give them the strength to overcome these most difficult times. Lord, hear the prayers of all those who pray tonight for them, we may not know these people, but we share their grief and wish they didn’t have to suffer through it.
We pray for Nova Scotia, that we may all overcome these difficult times, made worse by today’s tragedy, and that we may grow stronger, united as one community to serve and help each other in love. We also pray that such acts of unbridled horror and violence will never happen again; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
