Prayer for Thursday in Holy Week, Commonly Called Maundy Thursday, 2020

Tonight on Maundy Thursday we remember the washing of the disciples feet by Jesus, the Passover meal that would be his Last Supper, and his betrayal.

In the same night that He was betrayed, took Bread; and, when He had given thanks, He brake it; and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise after supper He took the Cup; and, when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all, of this; for this is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins: Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me.

Tonight we continue to pray for all those in hazardous occupations, all healthcare workers, all cleaning staff, the Queen’s armed forces, the unemployed, the fearful, and especially the sick including our dear friend Tim. May the Lord have mercy upon all of us and protect us in our time of need, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
