Morning Prayer for the Third Sunday after Trinity (Trinity 3), in the Octave of St John the Baptist, and the Sixteenth Sunday in COVIDtide

God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God in him.

Collect of the Day: O Lord, we beseech thee mercifully to hear us; and grant that we, to whom thou hast given an hearty desire to pray, may by thy mighty aid be defended and comforted in all dangers and adversities; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We pray for all peoples of our communities, that we may build bridges of peace and understanding, not walls of distrust and hatred. We pray that people remain considerate that while life may appear to be returning to normal, the deadly pandemic remains among us and we must continue to be vigilant and do our communal duties to minimize the risk of spreading this deadly plague, especially to those at higher risk.

On this anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, we pray for all LGBTQ+ persons, that they may experience the love of Christ like any other persons, without fear of persecution, discrimination, or hatred, that all peoples can live fully in your love, without need to hide who they truly are, especially by those and to those that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

We pray for Capt Kevin Hagen, Capt Brenden MacDonald, Capt Maxime Miron-Morin, SLt Matthew Pyke, and MCpl Matthew Cousins that they may be at peace, having come finally home. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them. And we pray for their families and loved ones, that they may find some closure and peace, and the pains of loss lessen with each day; through Jesus Christ, our saviour and mediator. Amen.
